Send me your Katahdin stories by April 16

The deadline is quickly approaching for readers to send me their stories about Maine’s tallest mountain, Mount Katahdin. Please send your stories to me by April 16.

If you don’t know what I’m talking about, read the following blog post from last week:

The BDN is working on the next “BDN Maine Outdoors” special publication, and for a piece I’m writing about Mount Katahdin, Maine’s tallest peak, I need your help.

In a quest to depict this historied mountain, I’m asking people to share their stories. I have my own tradition to write about, but I’m interested to hear what memories the mountain holds for others.

What does the rock pile on Baxter Peak mean to you? Does your family have a Katahdin tradition? Do you have a favorite trail, epic hiking story, or funny camping disaster? Have you volunteered on the mountain? Was Hunt Trail the end of your Appalachian Trail journey? Animal stories are always entertaining…

Whatever story pops into your head about the mile-high mountain, jot it down in 350 words or less and send it by email to asarnacki@bangordailynews.com or by mail to Aislinn Sarnacki, Bangor Daily News, 491 Main St., Bangor 04401. I also encourage you to send a photo or video of your experience.

A handful of these stories will be featured in the June edition of “BDN Maine Outdoors.”

If you have any questions, feel free to comment below or send me an e-mail at asarnacki@bangordailynews.com. As always, I’d love to hear from you.
