Wildlife Film Festival coming to Bar Harbor

A smorgasbord of wildlife, from elephants in Thailand to sluggish sloths, will star in films at Reel Pizza Cinerama in Bar Harbor from May 18 to 21 for the “Maine Wildlife Conservation Film Festival.”

More than 30 conservation, natural history and wildlife documentary films will be screened, and nearly all the films have never before been screened in the state.

Tickets are $8 for adults, $7 for seniors and students with an ID, per series.

The films will be shown in 10 series:
• Series 1: 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 18 – “Al Maha: Through the Eyes of a Falcon,” “Living with the Jaguar,” the Maine premiere of “Migratory Birds Shade Grown Coffee” and the Maine premiere of “After the Oil Spill: Impact on Wildlife.”
• Series 2: 8:15-10:15 p.m. Friday, May 18 – The Maine premiere of “What would Darwin Think: Man vs Nature in the Galapagos Islands,” the Maine premiere of “In the Eye of the Whale,” the Maine premiere of “Amazon Alive; Part 1: Jungle of the Mind” and the Maine premiere of “Borrowed Water.”
• Series 3: 4-6 p.m. Saturday, May 19 – The world premiere of “The Lion Tree” and the Maine premiere of “Crocs of Katuma.”
• Series 4: 6:15-8:15 p.m. Saturday, May 19 – The Maine premiere of “White Shark Cafe,” the Maine premiere of “Cotton-Tops,” the world premiere of “Deeper Than Blood” and the Maine premiere of “The Last Elephants in Thailand.”
• Series 5: 8:30-10:30 p.m. Saturday, May 19 – The Maine premiere of “Cheetahs: Against All Odds,” the Maine premiere of “Hope in a Changing Climate” and the Maine premiere of “Jungle Water.”
• Series 6: 4-6 p.m. Sunday, May 20 – The Maine premiere of “Where the Whales Sing,” the Maine premiere of “Home for Hawksbill,” “Help Project Maine’s Piping Plovers” and the World Premiere of “The Maine Black Bear: A Symbol of the Wild.”
• Series 7: 6:15-8:15 p.m. Sunday, May 20 – The Maine premiere of “Koala Hospital,” the Maine premiere of “Wombat” and the Maine premiere of “Cassowaries.”
• Series 8: 8:30-10:30 p.m. Sunday, May 20: The Maine premiere of “Adventures with Birdman,” the Maine premiere of “Forever Wild” and the Maine premiere of “Rwanda – Back to the Garden.”
• Series 9: 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 21 – The world premiere of “Meet the Sloths,” the Maine premiere of “My Pantanal,” the Maine premiere of “Coral Reefs: living Cities Underwater” and the Maine premiere of “Angels of the Forest.”
• Series 10: 8:15-10:15 a.m. Monday, May 21- the Maine premiere of “Falcons in Monastery,” the Maine premiere of “Save Our Seas – Shark Finning” and the Maine premiere of “Pelagic Magic.”

The mission of the Maine Wildlife Conservation Film Festival is to
simultaneously educate and entertain people, inspiring them learn about the importance of protecting the world’s wildlife.

This annual festival is the premier venue in New England for wildlife filmmakers to present documentary work to a global audience.
