Here’s my handle, Tweet me maybe

Since you blog readers are internet-savvy enough to be checking out BDN online, I figure a good number of you might have Twitter accounts. I think that makes you a Tweep. Anyway … I also “Tweet.” My twitter handle is …. ready for it? … @1MinHikeGirl.

For those of you who don’t know what a “Twitter handle” is, it’s basically a person’s name on Twitter. If you want to Tweet at me, you type in something like “@1MinHikeGirl, you rock!” in the box “compose a Tweet.” Go ahead, try it. I won’t mind. 🙂

Anyway, Twitter.. if you haven’t jumped on that wagon, that’s understandable. There are so many social media sites out there that it’s hard to keep up. Linkedin, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google+… I still mess up with Twitter all the time. People send me messages and I forget to check. I haven’t really gotten into hashtags, though I hear they’re effective. And if you don’t know what I mean by “hashtag,” don’t worry, but I don’t feel like trying to explain.

If you have Twitter, or this ode to social media has inspired you to create a Twitter account, consider following me @1MinHikeGirl. I Tweet about my hikes, outdoor stories, nature, BDN awesomeness, Wheat Thins, strange Bangor happenings, tea, and whatever else fits in that general category.

Why should you try Twitter? Well, let’s think about why I tried Twitter. 1. To work on my one-liners.. and haikus (you only get 140 characters per Tweet). 2. To follow Ian Somerhalder (the steamy vamp on Vampire Diaries that happens to be trying to save the rainforest, puppies and basically the world in real life.) 3. To beef up my knowledge on outdoor happenings and gear (I follow people involved in the outdoors and get all sorts of cool Tweets about nature and outdoor recreation on my Twitter feed). 4. OH yeah.. and to promote my BDN blog, “Act Out with Aislinn,” and make it easier for blog readers to know when I have posted. (You’ll know because I’ll Tweet at you!)

Oh, and if the title of this post sounds weird to you, listen to “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen. Don’t judge. It’s just a pop culture reference in my attempt to be witty.

My desk at the BDN.
