Because I’m tardy posting today, and also because this was such a cool hike, I’m going to post a mega gallery (that’s a gallery that’s larger than the average gallery). View the photos below and guess where I’m hiking in Maine with my many hiking buddies (family and friends) in the comment section.
Verbal hints: The hike was a loop. We hit the summit of two mountains. One of the mountains has a two-word name, in addition to “Mountain.”
Since I’m posting 16 photos, forgive me for any caption craziness. This hike was on Aug. 11, 2012. Stay tuned to this blog to see a video of the hike, along with information so you can hike this loop, on tomorrow’s “1-minute hike” post.
- Am I pushing hiking buddy Derek up the mountain, or is he pulling me?
- Either way, I think I’m pretty funny. But look, so does he.
- Eating bacon before the trip. Pointless photo? Use your noggin. The campground behind me is close to this week’s hiking location.
- Uncle Bruce looks down at the trail. What is he looking at? A frog? We saw a lot of those.
- The trail is bordered by moss.
- The trail crosses over many small streams and tiny waterfalls.
- A section of the trail travels along a rockslide.
- Wow, we’re in the middle of no where. Maine does have a lot of trees.
- The trail starts to become steep, but we try to laugh it off.
- Oh hi, ridiculously steep part of the trail. AND the rocks were kind of slippery. We had to navigate around black scum to stay safe.
- Cool view near the top of the first mountain of our loop hike.
- Sometimes it’s nice to look down at how far you’ve come.
- A cool view from somewhere near the summit of the first mountain on our loop hike.
- Derek and Uncle Bruce heading from the first mountain of our hike to the second mountain.
- Ma (Joyce) hiking on a cool, mossy woods path to the second mountain of our hike.
- A neat forest near the trailhead.
