Where in the woods am I? Walden-Parke Preserve

Kevin Foss and Candace Hart won the “Where in the Woods Am I?” game for Walden-Parke Preserve in January 2013 given these verbal clues and the following gallery of photos:

“I’ve been a little sickly the past week, as I know many others have been. The air seems to be full of bugs, viruses and germs. I know people will the flu, bronchitis and strep throat. I think I’ve just had a nasty cold, and so I count myself lucky. But I still didn’t feel all that good, so I left my hiking day for the last possible day – Sunday. And I stuck close to home (Bangor area). I think it was good to get some fresh air, though I was certainly moving slower than usual.. and I may have wanted to take a nap in the snow half way through. I did make it back, though (to take a nap on the couch). Try to figure out where in Maine I visited for this week’s “1-minute hike” video and writeup by viewing the photos below.

Also, I’d appreciate it if you’d weigh in on what kind of woodpecker I photographed. I’m thinking it’s a hairy woodpecker. Her beak was pretty long (no red on the head). I think the only other option is a downy woodpecker, but I think this bird was too big to be a downy.”
