Championship snowmobile ice drag race postponed due to storm

The Maine State Championship Snowmobile Ice Drag Race scheduled for Feb. 9-10 has been postponed one week in response to weather reports of a snowstorm, according to a post on the East Brach Sno Rover’s Facebook page on Thursday morning. The championship race will now be held Feb. 16-17 at East Branch Sno Rovers clubhouse in Medway.

The East Branch Sno Rovers clubhouse is located along the banks of the east branch of Penobscot River between the towns of Medway and East Millinocket. The races can be watched up close or on the television in the warm clubhouse.

Registration will be 7-10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, and at 11 a.m., the qualifying races will begin. Sunday, Feb. 17, will start with a drivers meeting at 9:30 a.m., and by 10 a.m., the races will begin.

The big event is organized by the Katahdin Area Snowmobile Racing Affiliates, a division of the East Branch Sno Rovers established in 2010 to bring the sport of snowmobile ice drag racing to a new level in Maine and the Northeast.
