Don’t forget to attend Bangor area trails meeting Thursday

The Bangor Trails Committee recently announced a goal to create a regional trail system by forming links among trails located in Bangor, Brewer, Holden, Hampden, Orono, Old Town, Hermon and Veazie. The first meeting about this potential trail system is scheduled from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday, April 11, in the Community Room of Machias Savings Bank at 581 Wilson Street in Brewer.

Anyone interested in this community project is welcome to attend.

• Familiarize with existing maps: Maine Trail Finder, Healthy Maine Walks, Explore Maine by Bike and Penobscot Valley Community Greenprint.

• Identify potential, actual, on-the-ground links between community trails, and list the initial next steps to make those routes useable.

• See if the communities represented want to establish any formal links between and among themselves with regard to trails.

• Explore the interest in having trail events that involve more than one community.
