‘Let the Dog Out’ is coming soon!

Since becoming the parent (seems weird to say owner) of a black-and-white pup named Oreo, I’ve come up with all sorts of topics, stories, photos and questions about dogs — things I’d like to write about — and a lot of these topics, stories, photos and questions are also related to the outdoors. Maybe it’s because Oreo likes to spend a lot of time outside. Maybe it’s because I like to spend a lot of time outside. Who knows.

So I’ve decided to create a category on my blog called “Let the Dog Out,” for all posts relating to dogs and more specifically, dogs in the outdoors. Each week, I’ll devote some time to writing about cool dog products I’ve found (or not so cool), outdoor dog-friendly play places, doggy disasters and more.

But just so we’re clear … I’m no dog expert. I go to the vet clinic for that. I’m the woman at Petco asking about the differences between chew toys — antlers, plastic or raw hide?

But I’m also the woman who checks her dog for ticks each day, looks for gluten-free dog chow, researches what human food is OK for dogs to eat, and is training her dog to run with her on a leash… in other words, I care about Oreo; I have fun with Oreo, and I think that’s what matters. Hopefully my interest and joy in Oreo will lead me to write some interesting stuff that you’ll enjoy. Stay tuned!
