Where in the woods am I? Ridge to River Trail

Joel Swanton won the “Where in the Woods Am I?” game for Ridge to River Trail in Searsmont in January 2015 given these verbal clues and the following gallery of photos:

Saturday was a “moms adventure.” Derek and I led our moms on a hike, and as usual, we chose a Maine trail we’d never hiked before. It was a chilly day, hovering around 20 degrees Fahrenheit, but managed to not freeze or get lost (though there was a moment there…). The trail itself led to some beautiful places, from blueberry fields to a frozen river. See if you recognize this Maine trail by viewing some of the photos I took during the hike. Leave your best guesses in the comment section at the bottom of the blog post. As always, winner gets a high five and a mention in the updated post. And if this trail interests you, stay tuned for tomorrow’s “1-minute hike” video and summary of the trail, starring my mom, Joyce, Derek’s mom, Geneva, and our dog, Oreo, who wore two coats to stay warm. Gotta have those layers!

Crazily enough, I took many more photos than this! And I have some stories to share about this trail, so make sure to check out the “1-minute hike” of the trail, posted tomorrow (Tuesday).
