More than 100 events on tap for Great Maine Outdoor Weekend, Feb. 13-15

It’s back! This winter’s Great Maine Outdoor Weekend is scheduled for Feb. 13-15 and will feature more than 100 outdoor events being hosted throughout the state. The activities range from snowshoe excursions to building snowmen to ice fishing derbies. There’s something for every age and skill level.

To find an event to attend, visit greatmaineoutdoorweekend.org, where you  an search for activities by region, activity, wheelchair accessibility, time or cost. Most events are free or low cost.

Here’s a video about last February’s GMOW:

This will be the 7th Great Maine Outdoor Weekend organized by the Maine Outdoor Coalition, a group of outdoor-oriented organizations and businesses formed in 2012 to host the biannual weekend, which is scheduled each September and February.

And so far, GMOW organizers have worked with more than 150 organizations across the state to host events.

The goal of the collaboration is to help Mainers learn about the many fun outdoor opportunities in the state.
