Where in the woods am I? Buck Hill

The Maine Appalachian Trail Land Trust, via Facebook message, won the “Where in the Woods Am I?” game for Lake Hebron and Buck Hill in April of 2015 given these verbal clues and the following gallery of photos:

I got a bit of a sunburn on Friday. The temperature climbed to the 50s, maybe even the 60s, and it felt much warmer in the sun. Nevertheless, the snowcover was deep, making snowshoes absolutely necessary for hiking. Just a few feet down the trail, I tied my fleece around my waist and snowshoed in my tanktop for the rest of the day. And boy was it a long day… 8 miles later, I felt like I’d climbed Katahdin. But more about that later.

Today, I’m wondering if you can guess where I hiked by viewing some of the photos I took along the way. This one will be tough, so I’ve decided to give you a big hint: It’s a day hike on the Appalachian Trail in Maine. Do you recognize the section? It took my dog and I all day, and was an out and back hike.

Leave your best guesses in the comment section below. Winner gets a high five and a mention in the updated post. And stay tuned for tomorrow’s video and writeup about the hike. I learned some new lessons.
