How many deer do you see in this photo from Hancock County?

The answer to the question below: I’m back from vacation, and I was very surprised to see all these comments! When it comes to how many deer are visible in the photo, I thought there was a definite answer. However, after reading your 100+ guesses, I’m second guessing myself. So here’s the best answer I can give you….. I saw three deer cross the road and head into the woods. I then took a photo in their direction. All three deer are partially obscured by trees, but in the photo, I can pick out the white tails of two deer (near the center of the photo) and the head of the third (to the right of them). I’ve circle them in the photo and am attempting to post it in the blog today (with a few technical difficulties that I’ll sort out this morning). So my answer is 3 deer! However, several of you wrote that you saw many more deer than that… and I’m not about to say you’re wrong. It’s entirely possible. So continuing the stream of comments at the bottom of the page, I’d like those who think they see more than three to try to explain where they are seeing these other deer.

deer-3Here’s what I wrote in the original post:

While driving to work recently, I had to stop to let a young white-tailed deer cross the road — something I’d say almost every Maine resident has done. I pulled to the side of the road, got out my camera and tried to take a photo of the beautiful animal, but I was a bit late. Still, I uploaded the photo onto my computer, and I think it makes for a pretty cool “Where’s Waldo” type activity. How many deer do you see in this photo?

There is a definite answer, which I’ll give to you when I return from vacation on Jan. 10. In the meantime, leave your answer in the comment section at the bottom of the page. deer
