If you don’t have plans for this Sunday, July 15, consider heading to Acadia National Park for some outdoor fun at the sixth annual “Acadia Adventures: Family Fun Day” from 2 to 5 p.m. at Sieur de Monts, 25 Visitor Center Road, Bar Harbor.
Organized by Friends of Acadia and Acadia National Park, the event is an opportunity to learn about a variety of outdoor activities, and this year, The L.L.Bean Bootmobile will also be at the event, parked in the Jackson Lab Parking Area.
The L.L. Bean Bootmobile is a 13-foot-high version of the outdoor retailer’s most iconic product – the Bean Boot – and it’s visiting cities and parks across the country in celebration of L.L.Bean’s 100th Anniversary year.
For Family Fun Day, Friends of Acadia and park rangers have planned special field-day activities that are designed to help kids connect with nature and develop a sense of stewardship for Acadia National Park. Some new activities are in store, along with such favorites as the climbing wall, carriage rides, and interpretive Acadia National Park programs.
For every person to participate, L.L.Bean will contribute $1 to the National Park Foundation as part of the Million Moment Mission, a campaign to raise $1 million in support of the national parks.
While in Maine, the L.L.Bean Bootmobile will also make a stop at the L.L.Bean retail outlet in Ellsworth 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday, July 16. The store will host L.L.Bean Outdoor Discovery Schools® expos where families will have the opportunity to try a new outdoor activity.
